    Works great, just like advertised. First time, I didn't succeed, however second time around, it worked like a charm. The end product was outstanding, like a piece of art. Very pleased with the result, i would recommend it to anyone considering this.

    Most new parents would love to have a keepsake of their baby’s tiny hands and feet - this set provides you with the means to do it. However, it’s not easy! You will need some extra items to use for mixing and casting - save up little plastic food pots in advance. The instructions are lengthy and you’ll probably find it easier to watch a YouTube video for guidance. It’s a two person job to try and get the baby to stay still with their feet (forget hands!) in cold goo, but it’s a bit of fun to do whilst the baby is little. I bought an extra set for a friend when their baby was born as it’s at least something most parents would like to try.

    Got this to do castings for my friends who have had children and was very impressed. Compared to the prices for other packs online this was so cheap! Once you have the hang of how to mix the product it’s easy to do.

    Great product. Wasted the mixture first time round as the water in the alginate was too hot so it set before we could get our baby's hand in. Key is to make the water a but cooler than stated and it will give you a bit more time. Patience is needed for this especially as we done it with our little one when she was only a month old. Love the finished product so much we gave frames to relatives at Xmas with a mould of her hand and foot, they were all amazed at how detailed they were.

    We bought this for my five month old son and are really pleased with it. The instructions are well written and easy to follow and the results are great. What is more, you can make loads of casts. However, you do need to bear in mind the weather - if it is wet it will take longer to dry than if it is hot and sunny. What is more, if you get any product on baby's clothes then clean it straight away as it doesn't just come off in the wash.

    Absolutely amazing! I used this on my dogs paws and legs, so not the intended use, however, the details were absolutely stunning. It picked up the tiny pores in her paw pads and dries in no time, so working with a dog only takes 30 seconds of entertaining or treat giving to achieve a remarkable resemblance. I must add, it's not marketed for this purpose and she is a short coated dog, so wouldn't attempt on a longer haired breed. Couldn't be happier with the results, made 4 large paw/legs from the kit and a couple didn't work, so would have easily made 6 in total. Comes in a lovely box, with silver ribbon, so perfect for a gift. The paint, on first application, is a little flat in terms of the gold, however, when it dries, the metallic really starts to show, however, this is silver, so although it highlights the details very clearly, you may want to consider if you are happy to accept the "silver glitter" appearance. Mould creation to final cast - approx 90 mins.

Easy to Follow Instructions

Your baby casting kit comes with step-by-step instructions to guide you through each stage of the casting process. Our easy to follow instructions have been tried and tested by thousands of happy customers.  The process is really quite simple and you can easily create your own beautiful keepsake.  Please watch the short video on this item to see what's involved, the 'Play Video' link can be found just above the price information further below.

  • mix alginate with 30 degree centigrade water
  • place baby's hand or foot into the alginate mixture for anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute before the alginate sets (setting time depends at what stage you put baby's hand or foot in the mixture)
  • remove baby's hand or foot - now you have your impression mould
  • mix plaster with water
  • pour plaster/water mix into alginate impression mould
  • after an hour or so the plaster has set, gently break away the alginate mould from the 3D plaster cast to reveal a true work of art!

And that's it, simple!

BabyRice alginate conforms to British Safety Standards BS 4269 Pt.2:1991 and the internationally recognised safety standard ISO 1563:1990. In order to maintain these standards, our alginate undergoes rigorous quality control and regular testing to ensure every single bag of alginate is of the highest quality.
