Metal Casting - Real Solid Bronze, Pewter, Silver Casts
Solid Bronze, Solid Pewter and Solid Silver Metal Casts
If you would like to have a real solid metal cast then look no further! We can use the plaster cast you have made and create either a solid bronze, *solid silver or **solid pewter cast for you. A permanent and unbreakable beautiful cast that will truly last forever.
How are the metal casts made?
Using your existing plaster cast, we make a silicone rubber mould from it and it’s the rubber mould that we then use to make the metal cast.
Wax is then poured into the newly made rubber mould and once set, the rubber mould is removed from the wax. We then have a wax replica of your original plaster cast.
Using the wax replica, we make a metal cast from the wax via a technique called ‘lost wax’ casting. (You can read more about this technique on our blog here).
What happens with my original plaster cast?
Throughout this process your original plaster cast is not ruined and will be returned to you along with your new metal cast, but in very rare cases, a little finger or long nail may snap off. Being plaster, this is repairable by gluing broken parts back on and furthermore, the rubber mould made from the original cast is long-lasting and can be used to remake a plaster cast if needed.
