Herculite 2 is a strong and fast setting plaster of paris that reproduces fine detail and sets with a nice white finish.

Harder and more durable than other types of plaster of paris, Babyrice Herculite 2 is the perfect option for projects such as hand casting, body moulds, model making and other decorative objects that will be handled frequently.

The white surface finish of the Herculite makes it a perfect base for a lovely paint finish, should you decide to paint your cast.

Supplied in a resealable, 5kg bucket, this is a great option for professional casters and prolific hobbyists. Simply remove the lid, scoop out what you need and reseal when finished.

For life casts

If you are looking to make 3D hand/foot moulds then purchase some BabyRice Skin Safe Alginate to make your impression moulds first, then this plaster can be used to fill in your mould impression and hence you are then left with a 3D hand/foot cast.

When used to create a cast from an alginate impression mould, BabyRice Herculite 2 produces highly detailed casts that capture every detail of body parts, right down to the last wrinkle.

Please note: When creating life casts, you should never let wet plaster come into contact with skin. Plaster should only be used to pour into the alginate impression mould.

Fast setting casting plaster

BabyRice Herculite 2 is a fast setting casting plaster. Small objects, such as baby hand casts will typically set in 5-15 minutes. Larger objects, such as adult hands and family hand casts, will typically set within 35-60 minutes. (Plaster setting times vary depending on the size of the object, room temperature and ambient conditions.)

Painting your plaster casts

Like all plaster of paris, Herculite is highly porous, making it extremely absorbent. Always paint your plaster casts with an acrylic paint that has been formulated to adhere to plaster, such as those supplied by BabyRice.

When life casting from an alginate impression mould, your plaster cast may take on the pink colour of the alginate, but this will fade as plaster dries, leaving a clean white cast.
